#26 There is great difference between trust and belief
Trust is personal, Belief is social — Rajneesh
Happy long weekend! A Monday off, completed with Thursday and Friday off in Indonesia! What are you doing this long weekend? If you go out make sure to wear your mask and keep at least 1,5m distance! Don’t forget to have quality long sleep because we never get to have long weekend again until end of this year! So sad.
On previous newsletter, we had #SalMonday inviting Elsa’s internship office CEO talking about our responsibility as a generation that somehow matches the vibes of Indonesia Independence day! Click here in case you missed it!

Yesterday, I turned on my “socializing” button after a long time I didn’t. Well, I came to office and met my colleagues too, normally. We worked, had meetings, and greeted each other. For me it didn’t require a lot of social energy because however, it’s part of working. Seemingly, a whole day of being with friends of mine or my boyfriend took pretty much of it.

I love the fact that both my boyfriend and I like to take each other out to meet our friends. Other than I gained more acquaintances, it’s good to be around and feel what’s his friendship like, also encounter new environment! Even though most of the time I got lost in translation because they speak with Javanese haha.
Our first agenda yesterday was to visit my former colleagues. They are married and living with their 10 months old baby! It’s always fun to visit their place because we got to have lunch together, update our silly lives, play games, and play with their child. Maybe I felt very happy because they are one of my family-like colleagues. So once we met, we spilled it all comfortably! Lol, you know how people like me is sometimes a keeper of the best people, right?

We then visited mall that’s integrated with their place and parted ways after we finished a very quick shopping. We almost went straight home but my boyfriend said his friends were in town and wanted to eat dinner together. So we took online taxi to go from East to Central of Jakarta as meeting point, before we had dinner in South Jakarta area lol. Thankfully, the road was quite since it’s a long weekend because most Jakartans are going out of town to take days off.

We had dinner at Warpopski which sometimes I ordered food delivery from. It’s a main course meal of rice mixed with special broth, and topped with sunny side-up, and protein selection (squid and beef). Strangely I found out the taste was more flavourful and 1000x times more crazily delicious than when I ordered online! A perfect main course and dessert that finished our agenda! After we finished having meals, we went home straight and took a shower immediately.

Definitely that’s what normal (long) weekend we always had, and maybe took for granted from, that we miss and look forward to have again so much!

Happy weekend everyone!
I am writing this article with a half tipsy mind at 3 am after coming back from a bar in Lund, Sweden. It was my first weekend starting my third semester here after having my semesters in Paris and Dublin! I am excited to experience new things in a new city with new friends!

Last week I was having a farewell with my summer internship program in Stockholm. It was a nice moment for me and I learnt so much things. I wrote it in the #24 of Salmon Mentai that you can read it back here.

At the internship farewell party, the interns were having a final presentation, followed by having drinks and dinner together. It was a lot of alcohol content in my blood stream. I had two glasses of Guinness, two bottles of Swedish beer, two glasses of wine, and a half liter of Japanese beer. I slept on the floor for merely three hours (because I was afraid that I was gonna miss my train to move to Lund from Stockholm) and had my laptop opened to write the #25 of Salmon Mentai on a train. Shockingly I vomited on the train. It was my first vomit on the train for my whole life.

Alcohol is not a good drug indeed. On one side, drinking alcohol is nice for a person to show his/her expression and honesty to peers. On the other side, drinking alcohol is not something that will bring good than harm without a responsible consumption. I had passed out for three times in my life, and I do realize that losing a consciousness of my own self is not a thing I was happy about.

I will give you tips how to survive with alcohol drinking:
Eat a lot before you drink, eat again after you drink with still water
I went to a whiskey distillery in Dublin, I had three glasses of whiskey with 46% of alcohol and one glass from my friend I helped to finish it out. I was not high because afterward I went to an Irish fast food chain and ordered double beef burger with large french fries and soda. I was saved.
If you have low threshold of drinking, just have beers (that will last longer for you to finish the drink) than shots
There will be some peer pressure in a drinking society that they won’t leave you empty handed without drinks. That is why, it is better to have a huge watery alcohol one (which is beer), than plenty of shots. A general beer has 2-7% of alcohol, while shots start with 30% of alcohol. It is a better protection for the liver, I might say.
If strangers come after you, you can have a nice drunk philosophy and stay safe
There will always (or mostly) be stranger who will come to you at the bar and start a conversation with you. If you are in a bar with a group of friends, it is supposed to be safer to have a conversation with strangers. This dawn, I and my friends have established this stranger behavior as a ‘drunk philosophy’ conversation. Thanks to the alcohol effects, people are nicer and merrier than usual. But if you are alone (and at least you are not intended to have a fling), you have better to stay away from strangers.
